Wie ben ik?

In my work, I explore how identity is shaped through my personal experiences. I see identity as something that is constantly in motion. Something that emerges in relation to others, to the past, to the body, and to the world we live in.

Intersectionality plays an important role in my research. It helps me understand that experiences do not always exist separately, but can intersect, reinforce, and influence one another. Themes such as mental health, neurodiversity, womanhood, and racism are not separate parts of who I am within my story. They continuously touch and shape one another. Together, they influence how I see myself, how I behave, what space I take up, and how I relate to the world around me.

My book Who am I? arose from the need to give language and image to experiences that were difficult to talk about for a long time. I write from my own story and connect it with theory, poetry, painting, and reflection. Through my work, I want to create space for subjects that are often uncomfortable, vulnerable, or difficult to discuss. Writing and making are ways for me to explore, order, and to find closure in my experiences. In addition, I want to invite others to reflect on their own story, looking for connection, recognition, and dialogue.
