Design - Spatial Design

Linger a little longer
My work investigates how spatial design can transform everyday movement into moments of connection. Inspired by the traditional Romanian porch, this public space reinterprets the porch as a shared threshold within the city: neither fully public nor fully private, but something in-between. It is designed for students who often move through crowded environments while still feeling alone. Through framed views, layered seating, soft boundaries, and pockets of greenery, the design creates subtle relationships between solitude and togetherness. Movement slows, edges become destinations, and everyday routes transform into places of belonging. Rather than asking students to socialize, the space allows connection to emerge naturally through proximity, routine, and quiet awareness of others. By reimagining the in-between as a place to linger, the project explores how loneliness can be softened not by asking people to engage, but by gently placing them in relation to one another.
