process overload

Ada|No is a generalist artist focused on bridging the gap between scientific and creative fields to benefit both disciplines and the wider public. Their inherent need to understand how everything works, combined with a drive to create, has shaped them into a multidisciplinary artist and designer who visualizes scientific concepts and research findings.

These key factors also formed the foundation of Ada's research-based graduation project. Personal experiences, such as recognising a missing spot in their own timeline of existence, served as a strong motivation to delve into research and find ways to engage more people in understanding memory processes. Early on, Ada decided to combine their personal view on memory with multiple research points, from philosophy to behavioural neuroscience. As a Minerva graduate with access to specialists in these fields and various mediums and techniques, the artist explored different perspectives that could intrigue people to learn more.

Our perception of ourselves, the world around us, and how we communicate and connect are all based on our memory. The project uses interesting visuals and relatable situations, presented through many mediums, to serve as starting points (at different levels of understanding) for a viewer’s exploration of memory.

Over time, the project itself evolved into a method for conducting observational research, aiming to shed light on which visual representations of information are most effective for a wider audience. The creator will collect data at the graduation show to categorise the general public and to refine the scope of the research.

In a full circle moment, the project itself serves as a starting point for Ada to transition into a more academic and research direction where their visualising skills can be better utilised for their own and other scientists’ research.

Maybe this text itself is in a way spreading curiosity for knowledge.
