De Socratische Markt

Fabian is a creator who is deeply engaged with what is happening in the world. Through the news, online and in everyday life, he sees how often people find themselves at odds with one another. From conflicts and wars to strong opinions and heated debates. This resonates with him and serves as a key driving force behind his work. He is someone who thinks and dreams a great deal, with a keen interest in philosophy and, in particular, ethics. Drawing on this interest, he explores how people form judgements, and how we might create more space for understanding and nuance. Through his work, he hopes to make a small contribution towards a world with greater openness and humanity.

The Socratic Market is an interactive performance in which visitors are invited to explore their own moral convictions. In a market setting, they encounter different perspectives on ethics, inspired by philosophical thinkers and ideas. Through conversations, dilemmas and role-playing, an experience emerges in which the focus is not on finding answers, but on questioning what seems self-evident to us. The project responds to the growing need for nuance and understanding in a society where opinions often clash. The Socratic Market encourages an attitude of ethical humility: the realisation that our convictions are never entirely fixed, and that dialogue with others remains essential.
