Door de gang van het maken
I currently work primarily with photography. I capture 'liminal spaces' and “abandoned” objects in my surroundings. The spaces we visit but perhaps but wich we tend to not experience as a place where we are; the in-between spaces of our lives. How do we interact with these spaces, and what do we leave behind?
As a maker and educator, I also experience the creative process as a kind of 'liminal space' in which nothing is fixed yet, and which is therefore open to doubt, questions, experimentation, and failure. In the uncertainty of the process, students learn to deal with this ambiguity. The creative process stimulates an inquisitive attitude by having students formulate their intrinsic questions, which they make visible through their artwork. By taking pre-existing interests as a starting point, I aim to activate them as much as possible to think through making.
