Sediment: Geaard In Aanwezigheid
What happens when technology gives your attention back to You?
'Sediment' is an installation built from 3D-printed clay, fibre optics, light, and presence sensors. Light moves through its surfaces in response to your presence, transforming the Waiting Room from a space of distraction to a place of curious exploration.
The project finds inspiration in the way lived experience layers itself into the body over time, shaping how we perceive and move through the world, oftentimes without us noticing. 'Sediment' mirrors this process materially.
This modular design was developed for the context of a Waiting Room, to your physiotherapist or psychologist, a space often overtaken by habitual distraction and escapism. The reflex to reach for a phone can push us into absence before we have even noticed the opportunity to take a pause and recharge.
By proposing a different way of using available technological advancements, this installation gently invites attention to your surroundings, to texture, to the moment, carrying the energy of presence back to you.
