The beauty in Misremembering
Ties Meeuwsen Galindo is a product designer who explores how time affects the perception of our memories, while experimenting with the possibilities of a single material. His graduation project investigates how memories distort through distance and the passage of time, translating these shifts into a physical form using only cardboard.
The installation consists of four pieces. Three result from a group interview in which participants were asked to collectively describe an object they shared but had not seen for at least 24 hours. The fourth piece is based on the same interview, but reconstructed solely from the designer’s own memory. Each piece is made exclusively from cardboard, with PVA glue used as a binder.
The resulting works reveal subtle deviations from the original objects, most being small components that don't get interacted with often.
