In between
Qiman Zhang constructs her work from numerous small drawings, assembling them into a continuous, map-like image.
Each fragment functions as a piece of memory, forming a shared space where different experiences overlap and coexist. Rather than separating distinct worlds, the drawing allows them to merge into a single, continuous environment.
Small figures introduce moments of everyday life, creating a rhythm that guides the viewer through the image without constructing a fixed narrative.
The work develops through accumulation, where density, repetition, and variation shape the overall composition. It does not represent a fixed place, but an environment that is continuously formed through fragments.
Viewers are invited to navigate the image freely, tracing their own paths and connections. The work becomes a space to move through—shaped by fragments, perception, and time.
