A Place To Land

Melissa West is a designer driven by a singular question: how can objects help us feel more present in our daily lives? In a world where products are increasingly feature-heavy and instruction-dependent, she advocates for a different approach — one rooted in play, intuition, and sensory connection.

Her work challenges the traditional distance between people and the things they use. Rather than designing for efficiency alone, Melissa West designs for feeling — inviting touch, spontaneity, and grounded interaction. She believes that when design speaks the language of instinct, it no longer needs to be explained.

Through her practice, she explores how simplicity and tactility can restore a sense of calm and belonging in our overstimulated everyday lives.
