Hidden language

My work explores themes of cultural identity, memory, and belonging through material, texture, and form. Inspired by Latvian ethnographic signs and symbolism, I investigate how meanings once embedded in everyday life can be translated into a contemporary context. Through handmade ceramic tiles, carved patterns, and tactile surfaces, I create visual and physical narratives that connect tradition with modern design.
The project reflects on how symbols can carry stories, protection, rhythm, and emotional connection across generations. By reinterpreting these historical signs through contemporary materials and composition, I aim to preserve a hidden cultural language while making it accessible to audiences outside of its original context. My work invites viewers to experience culture not only visually, but also through touch, atmosphere, and personal interpretation.
