Aren't you a little too old for that?
Kayleigh Stuut is a Graphic Designer and Illustrator, who often works with vivid and expressive colors in her work, but occasionally mixes this up by working with a cyanotype printing technique, most known for its dark blue shade.
In her project “Aren’t you a little too old for that?” she combined these factors, by researching ways to bring color into a printing technique that is known for creating a deep and dark color. This resulted in double layered prints that both have the raw feeling of cyanotype prints, while still having color to it.
Through a series of photographic cyanotype prints Kayleigh showcases collections of adults who collect items that were originally intended to be for children. It involves the judgement from others around this theme and tells the stories of the collectors, giving the objects a voice. By including her own collection in the work, she shares a vulnerable side of her life that not many people have seen, as it usually stays behind closed doors to prevent receiving outside judgement.
An interactive element in the exhibition invites visitors to join in on the conversation by sharing their own stories regarding collecting, transforming the work into a space of reflection and collective storytelling.
