A Place That Moves
This project explores migration as a fundamental human experience, rather than a political problem. Rooted in my transition from student abroad to immigrant, it reflects on movement, belonging, and identity. What once felt like a personal choice revealed itself as part of broader historical and structural patterns shaped by economic instability, political conditions, and inherited histories of migration.
Drawing from my background as a Greek migrant and intergenerational experiences of displacement, the work explores migration as both a state of in-betweenness and a source of connection and growth. Through animation, I center the emotional and relational aspects of migration: the fragmentation and rebuilding of identity, the creation of community and the belief that home moves with you- it is built through care, shared experiences, and small acts of kindness.
Ultimately, the project seeks to reclaim migration as an ordinary human experience and a hopeful reflection on empathy, belonging, and the creation of home beyond borders.
