Emma Jongschaap
- Graduation work
Emma Jongschaap (2002) is an illustrator based in Groningen. Her work incorporates storytelling, research, humor, reflection, imagination and relatable experiences. Often, she takes inspiration from real life. Capturing life’s questions and answering them through her illustrations. Emma has one goal with her work: to support, entertain and educate. She feels that illustration should be a functional tool, helping others.
In “Komt goed?” Emma does just that by dissecting the age-old question: “Will everything be alright?” Focusing on life after graduation and the struggles a young artist will stumble upon. To create an honest and helpful story, several professionals from the creative field were interviewed along with the target audience of the book. ‘Komt goed?’ is for the young artist who needs a helping hand, a dash of affirmation and some useful tips. Artistic practice is such a beautiful thing; it deserves a realistic yet hopeful ode.
