Not Your Datascape

"As a young artist working in the age of Generative AI, I question what remains of drawing, skill, and authorship when images can be produced instantly from text. Rather than avoiding AI, this project confronts it by exploiting its limitations.

 Limitations like:
> having to depend on existing data
> inability to generate true visual paradoxes
> lack of lived experience

Oil on canvas, acrylic - resist instant consumption and demand slow looking. Painted over with black paint in the negative spaces of cut-out letters commanding ‘’Not Your Datascape’’.

At its core, the project argues that a painting is not just an image, but a trace of decisions, effort, and memory. AI-generated visuals may imitate outcomes, but they lack narrative. They have no story. This work is both a critique and a reassurance: human imagination still occupies spaces that cannot be automated."
