Practice Project

The exhibition shows a selection of the results of a recent collaboration between Hanze students and Eska. On display include products developed at Minerva Art Academy between September and January. Also presented are some products resulting from the collaboration with the Industrial Product Design (IPO) programme.

Eska produces premium solid board from 100% recycled fibre, combining sustainability with exceptional quality. Eska collaborates with progressive designers - innovators, makers and a new generation of designers - who dare to shape the future with bold ideas and a passion for change.

This exhibition highlights what can emerge when industry collaborates with young, creative thinkers - a plea for experimentation, collaboration and design with an eye to the future.

A playable piano made from only ESKA cardboard and conductive ink.

ESKA MUSIC is an interactive installation that challenges assumptions about materials and technology. What happens when you strip an instrument down to its barest form? No keys, no plastic, no metal, just ESKA cardboard, ink, and Arduino.

By painting circuits with conductive ink onto ESKA coloured cardboard, I transformed the surface into working piano keys. Touching a key sends a signal through the ink, triggering sounds via Arduino.

Why did I make a piano?

As a musician and interactive installation artist, I was immediately drawn to the challenge ESKA gave us: create something using as few materials as possible.

For me, music is a way of connecting, with people, with space, with emotion. So I wondered: could I make a working piano using only cardboard, conductive ink, and some code?

This project combines everything I love: sound, physical interaction, and playful experimentation. It’s not just about function; it’s about turning simple materials into something unexpected.
