ROTO P1

Gijs Hennen (NL, artist/designer) creates large-scale installations by combining and collaborating with existing devices and machines. In doing so, he investigates factory situations and industrial techniques. He wants to show that functionality can also have its own beauty.

His work centers on the influence of human systems, and he reflects on how we relate to the world of machines and industry.

He raises questions about how humans maintain their position in an increasingly industrialized landscape. As a creator, Gijs moves between art and product design, creating an interplay between "man makes machine" and "machine makes art."

In the work "ROTO P1," exhibited during the Minerva Graduation Show, he researched the technique of rotational molding. For this, he used an oven that swings hypnotically from left to right, containing a rotating mold. This process creates unique, spherical light objects.
