In my paintings, I explore abstract notions in figurative forms.

At our core, we're social creatures. Connection—love, friendship, care—literally keeps us alive. Yet, while we're completely dependent on one another, whether we want to be or not, we are simultaneously inevitably isolated, alone in our own consciousness and bodies.

Fascinated by this tension, I explore the search for connection, the isolation that comes with being a body, and the role of body language as the communicator of the subconscious. I depict not only the presence of a person but also a materiality through patterns and rich textures in the paint, making the subjects appear distant and ungraspable.

By exploring the frontier of abstraction, my work enters a sphere of in-betweenness: between connection and isolation, love and selfishness, figuration and abstraction, body and landscape, reality and illusion, order and disorder, exhibitionism and concealment. I invite you to take your time, linger, and meditate on the fragility of perception itself.
