weaving, walking, wondering

Anne Hendriks is an artist primarily motivated by a playful, adventurous impulse and an urge to explore the world. Roaming, traveling, and other forms of physical movement form the backbone of their practice. In doing so, they test their body’s capabilities, inquire into the workings of human nature, and collect stories. They work with stripped-down, natural materials and often utilize charting systems such as maps and logs to display their findings.

For their graduation project, Anne has woven a blanket out of handspun wool, which they then used for a multi-day hike through the countryside, sleeping under it at night. The actions carried out are meditations on universal human practices, the wanderer archetype, and the balance between the needs for comfort and for challenge.
