Active Listening
My practice explores the relationship between humans and technology through the framework of Digital Wisdom, a perspective that centers technology rather than the human.Having previously worked in an IT company specializing in biometric technologies like facial and voice recognition, I gained a deep understanding of the technical, social, and ethical aspects of data usage. This background influences my view that the main goal of Digital Wisdom is to foster awareness of the consequences of our interactions in digital environments, including digital footprints and algorithmic structures.
In my practice, I use AI, technology, and algorithms both as creative tools and critical subjects. This approach allows me to shift the perspective from technological invisibility, revealing the hidden dynamics of algorithmic control, digital ecosystems, and their impact on human interaction.
Active Listening
The Active Listening project links contemporary digital surveillance practices to historical colonial legacies, highlighting how data and resources have consistently been extracted to control and dominate populations. Modern methods transform individuals into "buy-ready" consumer profiles, echoing colonial tactics of exploitation through technological conveniences such as voice assistants, mobile phones, and web browsers.
Central to this project is a critical question: How can individuals reclaim autonomy in a digital landscape increasingly dominated by surveillance capitalism and commodified identities?
Active Listening highlights this powerful contradiction—trust transforming into attractive, user-friendly interfaces while real connections are overshadowed by hidden digital exploitation. I invite visitors to question their role and explore ways to reclaim control in today’s data-driven world.
