Dead Air
Zeynep Naz Öktem is a concept and comic book artist who explores fear, nostalgia, and interpersonal relationships through various mixed media illustrations. Her work is raw and honest, reflecting on her personal experiences, life lessons, and everyday anecdotes. Zeynep chooses to delve into subjects that are often eerie yet familiar. She finds great interest in cryptography, symbolism and encryption, as she sees these subjects as a vital part of communication. She believes that to communicate, we must look at not just words, but actions, symbols, and how we use them.
In "Dead Air", she tells the story of a reunion of two siblings. At first, it's a pleasant surprise to be visited out of nowhere, and 'Her' only worry is that 'Her' dear 'Brother' seems tired. However, as they begin to reminisce about their past, The Sister begins to notice oddities in Her Brother 'She's' never noticed before...
