Statement
It's a simple hardware hack that subtly changes the dynamics of the ubiquitous deathmatch mode in an effort to subvert traditional gameplay. The hack also serves to change the dynamics between the players. Restructuring the original ritual-combat as, on the one hand, the typical aggresive power-play and, on the other hand, a hypnotic experience of the beauty in the machine.
I've always been compelled to push the boundaries of what is accepted within a given medium. This seems to be the primary reason for my tendency to try many different modes of expression. From drawing, painting, sculpture, glass-blowing, video, installation, performance, net art, to video games, I continually strive to explore new areas. I am not satisfied with any one means of making. Just as there is no single, easy way to express the essence of ME, or anyone, there is no single, easy was for me to make art.
This has a tendency to give my work a rough edges. I'm always pushing the boundaries of what I know and what I've done. I'm not interested in making gleaming, faultless experiences. To see the physical limitations of the medium is to include the medium in the message.

Wat is het allereerste dat je iedere dag doet wanneer je de studio/het atelier inloopt?
Koffie zetten en lezen. Wat is jouw drijfveer om kunst te maken? (Is het een noodzaak? Helpt het je denken? Is het voor jezelf? Probeer je iets te vertellen? Aan wie?)
Ik denk na over de dingen die leuk zouden zijn om te maken en maak ze. Hoe kunst te consumeren?
Met een buigzaam rietje. Of zoals PacMan. Een gele stip per keer, met de sporadische fruitstukken/spoken voor een uitgebalanceerd dieet. Welke functie heeft het schrijven (van je thesis) in je artistieke proces (gehad)?
Het is een onmeetbare hulp voor mij geweest. Voor mij zijn de handelingen van lezen/schrijven/denken synoniem met de handeling van het maken. Wie van je medestudenten heeft volgens jou de meest opzienbarende ontwikkeling doorgemaakt en waarom?
Pascal Petzinger. Hij moest vele obstakels uit de weg ruimen en bleef daarbij een van de meest gedreven en methodische kunstenaars die ik ken.
